The Inn

Discover the magic of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park at a truly unique waterfront bed & breakfast, three blocks from the center of town yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of the West Street Historic District. An expansive back lawn slopes gently from the rear of the inn to the water’s edge where low tide reveals a sand bar connecting the Saltair Inn to Bar Island, from which Bar Harbor adopted its name in 1918.

The Rooms

Come relax in one of the Saltair Inn’s eight guest rooms; including five recently renovated waterfront suites overlooking Frenchman Bay. Amenities include modern baths with heated tile floors and air-jet tubs, multiple gas fireplaces, balcony decks, wireless internet, cable TV, air conditioning, gourmet breakfast and off-street parking.

Pancakes with bacon, scrambled eggs with slices of cheese served on a tray.

The Breakfast

Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 9:30 AM and includes fresh-brewed gourmet coffee from locally-owned Crooked Porch Coffee Roasters, an offering of fresh fruit, freshly-baked muffins or pastries, juice, tea, and one of Matt and Kristi's favorite hot dishes such as Wild Maine blueberry pancakes or Eggs Benedict. Enjoy your meal on the spacious outdoor deck, or at one of several indoor dining tables. Kristi and Matt are also happy to prepare a tray that you can take back to enjoy in the privacy of your room.

The Innkeepers

Kristi and Matt opened the Saltair Inn in 2006. They live at the inn with their three children and two dogs (available for petting upon request). In their spare time, they enjoy hiking, kayaking, golfing, fishing and sharing their love of Acadia National Park with their family, friends and guests.

Acadia National Park

Established in 1919 as the first national park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia National Park consists of 47,000 acres of the most beautiful landscape in the world. The renowned 27 mile scenic Park Loop Road, 45 miles of carriage roads and 125 miles of hiking trails provide seemingly endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. Your best days in Acadia will be spent exploring the awe-inspiring vistas of the forested hills, glacial ponds, rocky cliffs and jagged coastline of Mount Desert Island.

The Village of Bar Harbor

Home to just over 5,000 residents, the town of Bar Harbor opens its doors to more than three million visitors each year. The Village Green, town pier, and a variety of unique shops, galleries and restaurants are a ten minute walk from the inn. Bar Harbor is a four-season destination that should be on everyone’s bucket list.
